The Citizen NJ0157-81L is a highly collectible and playful collaboration between Citizen and the French horological artist Romaric André, better known as seconde/seconde/. Famously nicknamed the "Katana Tsuyosa", this limited edition transforms the popular integrated-bracelet sports watch into a piece of wearable art. It features a versatile 40mm Stainless Steel Case with a slim 11.7mm profile, alternating between polished and brushed surfaces to maintain the "sporty-chic" aesthetic that has made the Tsuyosa line a modern success.The defining characteristic of this collaboration is the Pixelated Katana Minute Hand, inspired by retro Japanese video game graphics. As the hand rotates, it appears to "slice" through the luminescent hour markers, which are offset to complete the visual effect. The vibrant Blue Sunray Dial provides a cohesive backdrop for this creative disruption. The case back is equally unique, featuring a printed message from the artist: "Being smaller has never stopped Minutes from slicing Hours into pieces," a humorous nod to the power of the smaller hand.Under the hood, the watch is powered by the reliable in-house Citizen Caliber 8210 Automatic Movement.
